Vanguard Biotech Systems (VBS) offers specialised capabilities in bacterial whole-genome sequencing (WGS) data processing, antimicrobial resistance (AMR) characterisation and scientific data integration.
Our existing technology, NextGenAMR, provides a reproducible and traceable bioinformatics workflow for WGS data generated from cultured bacterial isolates. The platform integrates sequencing quality control, taxonomic identification, genome assembly, detection of antimicrobial resistance determinants, species–antibiotic analytical models, and generation of structured, machine-readable results with full analysis provenance and version traceability.
Within THERESA PCP, VBS could contribute to the data-processing and integration components of a consortium, particularly where bacterial genomic information and AMR-related molecular data need to be processed, standardised, structured and integrated with experimental or treatment-performance data.
Potential contributions include:
- design of AMR/WGS data-processing workflows and data models;
- reproducible analysis of bacterial isolate WGS data;
- structured characterisation of antimicrobial resistance determinants;
- integration of genomic outputs with experimental datasets and sample metadata;
- traceability, versioning and provenance of computational analyses;
- development of project-specific interfaces and data exchange formats;
- technical support for validation and interpretation of genomic datasets generated during the PCP.
VBS is particularly interested in joining a consortium with strong wastewater-treatment, environmental engineering and experimental validation capabilities, where our expertise can complement the core treatment technology through a specialised AMR genomic and data-integration layer.
Our current platform is designed for WGS from cultured bacterial isolates rather than direct wastewater metagenomics, and we therefore seek a clearly complementary role within the consortium focused on bioinformatics, AMR characterisation and data integration.
