Open Market Consultation
December 2025 - February 2026
The Open Market Consultation was the first step of THERESA’s Pre-Commercial Procurement (PCP). It opened a dialogue between public healthcare buyers and market players to explore available and emerging solutions for treating hospital wastewater.
During the consultation, the project shared its challenge and gathered feedback on technical, financial, and regulatory aspects to help ensure that the subsequent tender was realistic, ambitious, and aligned with market capabilities.
The OMC included online events, a questionnaire and direct engagement opportunities with the market. Its results and supporting materials remain available below.
By engaging early with the market, THERESA aims to foster innovation for sustainable on-site hospital wastewater treatment — solutions capable of removing pharmaceuticals, microplastics, pathogens, and antimicrobial resistance, while reducing energy use and environmental impact.

The purpose of this questionnaire was to gather information that supported the alignment of the tender with relevant innovations. The responses helped to better understand the current state of the art, market dynamics, and the innovation landscape related to the challenge.
Completion of the questionnaire also enables access to the innovation community through the matchmaking tool, as well as opportunities to participate in events with a pitch or to request bilateral meetings with procurers.
